It's been a little over a year since the last version I posted, but I wanted to post a new version of wolf3d. A single shade darker than the grey tone used for the roof would probably be ideal.įor the green light objects attached to the roof, for an example, if there was a few dark gray pixels over its top it would help to distinguish where it is at distance. At distance it's difficult to distinguish stuff and while it's a typical problem of low res, poor palette hardware, I think some sort of contour could make wonders. When playing it on real hardware, the soft brown tones tend to get mixed with the light grey ones and then the contrast is lost.Īlso, I'd like to ask if there's a way to add some sort of contour to the objects. I remember that you changed the palette at some point to improve one aspect of the game (I don't remember which one) but IMO it ended up hurting the visibility of objects and texture details in spots. I think the palettes, especially the brown/pastel tones could use more contrast. I noticed that you also managed to substantially reduce the CRAM video artifacts in this version. Here is the rom, is a "demo version"(only first episode, sorry) with increased resolution.īecause there are some big changes I wanted to post this version, so everyone can test this on real hardware and/or on diferent versions of Genesis/MD. There are some "changes", I detailed it here: Hello all, I wanted to post the new "enanced" version of Wolf3d.
